Flagstaff Native Plant & Seed is dedicated to providing native plants, sustainable landscaping, and restoration services for Northern Arizona. Our retail nursery and production facility are located in Flagstaff. We also specialize in site specific propagate collection and growing for Northern Arizona and Colorado Plateau restoration projects.

Rainwater Harvesting

We can now provide you with Chem-Tainer potable water harvesting tanks! Sizes range from 45 to 5,000 gallons. Best to get your tanks installed before the monsoon season begins! We can provide delivery and installation services. Click here for more information.

 

 

Basic Recommendations for Sustainable Landscapes and Horticulture in Northern Arizona

Criteria for Plant Selection

  • Locally produced.
  • Able to thrive on minimum annual precipitation, grey, reclaimed and/or harvested water supplies once established. Food crops not included.
  • Available in small sizes

Landscape design Elements

  • Contoured and graded for water harvesting
  • Collection system where contour and/or grade inadequate
  • Temporary surface drip irrigation for plant establishment
  • Appropriate planting times
  • Appropriate microclimate planting
  • Local ground covers and mulches
  • Composting systems
  • Summer shading, winter warming
  • Porous paving
